Tamara Holland, PA-C, certified physician assistant

We are glad to welcome Tamara Holland, Certified Physician Assistant, to our team in Panama City. Tamara Holland, physician assistant, will help us care for patients across Bay County and Northwest Florida.

A Patient-Centered Approach to Rheumatology Care

Tamara comes to us from Fort Lauderdale. She cares most about muscle and bone health, autoimmune diseases and swelling in the body.

Her care starts with listening. She explains things in plain words. She also lets patients help make choices about their care. Two people with the same disease can have very different needs, and she knows it.

For Tamara, good care is about more than lab results. It means helping you feel good, move well and get back to the things you love.

“Improvement is not just about better lab results or reduced inflammation; it is about helping patients regain parts of their lives that illness may have taken away,” Holland said.

Tamara Holland, Physician Assistant: Why She Chose Medicine

Tamara’s interest in medicine began with sports. Growing up, she played sports and helped athletic trainers. That is how she first got interested in muscles and bones.

In college, she went on medical mission trips. One was to Honduras. There, she saw how pain and a lack of care can hurt daily life. So she chose a career in medicine and became a physician assistant.

Helping Patients Feel Heard

One of Tamara’s top goals is for patients to leave their visit feeling heard, respected and informed.

She takes time to learn about your symptoms. Then she asks how they affect your work, family, sleep and daily life.

She explains test results and choices clearly. That way, you know what is going on and what comes next.

This fits our promise to treat the person behind the diagnosis.

Understanding Rheumatic and Autoimmune Conditions

Joint and immune diseases can be hard to pin down. Tamara notes that one symptom or one test is rarely enough to find them.

Instead, rheumatology providers look at several things, including:

  • Your symptoms and health history
  • What they find when they check you
  • Lab tests
  • X-rays or ultrasound
  • How your symptoms change over time

When there is swelling, treating it well matters. It eases pain. It also protects your joints and organs for the long run.

A Welcome Addition to Our Team

Our Chief Operating Officer, Andre Smith, says patients and staff already like Tamara a lot. He praised her skill, her listening and her clear way of explaining things.

Dr. Amir Agha, our Medical Director, also welcomed Tamara. Adding her helps more people get expert care. Dr. Agha said her skill, kindness and hard work make her a great fit.

Getting to Know Tamara

Outside of work, Tamara loves time with her family and her two dogs. She also likes to stay active, hike, travel and try new hobbies.

Most of all, Tamara looks forward to getting to know her patients over time. She wants to be someone you can trust, in good times and hard ones.
